OBJECTIVES

  • To promote the development of business relationships between Singapore and Canada in particular, and other countries in general.
  • To promote the interests of SBC members to private, public, statutory organisations in their quest to develop and conduct business in Singapore and Canada.
  • To provide a platform in Canada for its members and their businesses to develop business relations in Singapore and Canada, and enable exchange of ideas, create business opportunities and network.
  • To encourage, support and facilitate liaison between the business communities and government trade organisations in Singapore and Canada.
  • To advance the knowledge and skills of SBC members in business and related subjects through education, training, research, lectures, discussions, publications, competitions, conferences, conventions, scholarships, fellowships, exhibitions, workshops, seminars, talks and trade missions.
  • In affiliation with other business councils and associations in Singapore and Canada to promote and carry out the purposes of the Council in matters of common concern and interest.

 

BACKGROUND

SINGAPORE BUSINESS COUNCIL was incorporated in Vancouver, Canada and inaugurated on 26 January 2007 with Mr Vanu Gopala Menon, High Commissioner of Singapore for Canada and Permanent Representative of Singapore to the United Nations as the Honorary Advisor. Mr Koh Yong Guan, the High Commissioner of Singapore for Canada is the current Honorary Advisor.

Mr Lyall Knott, QC, Senior Partner of Clark Wilson Business Law Group has been the Honorary Legal Advisor since the inception of the Council.

Mr Kwek Teong Sin, the Managing Director of KTS Technologies Inc. is the President.
